The seven presses, a unique group of completely preserved historic buildings form the framework of the indeed most interesting and lively square of Metzingen. The manor press of Zwiefalten’s Monastery was built in 1655 and is the only press in which its historical press beam has been preserved. The Wine-Growing Museum, which is a reminder of the long tradition of wine growing in Metzingen, was located in this press in 1979. A tour round the museum will show you the yearly activities in the vineyard, especially the hard work of the wine growers with simple tools. Besides this, pictures, texts and graphics as well as a video explain wine growing in the Erms Valley, in the past and today.
