A walk through the underworld of Gerstetten
Witnesses of the geological history of the Swabian Mountains and especially the Mountains of Gerstetten give to the visitors an extensive view in the time and the life 150 millions of years ago of our region.
The reef museum which is in the historical building of the station of Gerstetten you can call a speciality of the museums. The visitor enters into that reef, a paradise under sea with corals and sponges, and he sees the former underworld of the Jura Sea without any diving glasses or snorkel.
In this museum visitors can hear, that the coral fauna of Gerstetten belongs to the richest of this time. More than 150 kinds of corals could be found and still the research hasn`t finished.
