Welcome to the "Beuren Open-Air Museum"!

Something always happens in this village. Of course, you can just travel to Beuren and simply review the more than 20 faithfully re-erected dwellings and commercial houses in the Open Air Museum village. The buildings were brought here from the middle of the Neckar area and the Swabian Highland.
From the end of March to the beginning of October an abundance of events for adults and children is offered. Taking part in the various activities is explicitly desired. And no one has to starve in the museum as there is a museum restaurant with a pleasant "garden café" that will provide for you.

Especially children will be delighted because of the many chickens, rabbits, sheep and goats which live in the museum village. In the authentic corner shop you can still buy goods from Grandma’s time. By the way, bonbons are still sold unpacked.

More than 20 buildings in the museum village relate the history of those people who lived and worked there in earlier times. Besides farmhouses, stables and barns there are also dwellings and workshops from craftsman families presented at the museum.

Amongst them, a weaver’s house with a weaver’s-dip from the Swabian Highland, a farmhouse with a completely equipped joiner’s workshop, a photo studio, a limekiln and a village town hall with a teacher’s apartment.

Every house can be examined by everyone. Once a month a baking day takes place in the museum’s authentic baking house. The oven, which once used to stand in Esslingen-Sulzgries, is heated with wood. The freshly baked bread, sweet cakes and savoury pastries are offered to the visitors.

The complete event program is available free of charge at the museum or can be downloaded from the Internet.

For foreign visitors audio guides are available in English and French. Short-guidebooks are offered in English.
Groups also have the possibility to book guided tours in English or French.
